The General Assembly meets once every 2 years, usually on the occasion of the academy conference. Its most important tasks are the election and discharge of the board, decisions on statute changes, and other important decisions concerning the activities of the Academy of Sociology. All full members present are entitled to vote.

The academy currently has more than more than 300 members.

The inaugural meeting was in July 2017 in Mannheim.

Two years later, the General Assembly was part of the 2nd Conference of the Academy in Konstanz, September 2019.

Due to the pandemic, the third regular general meeting has been held online in Janary 2022.

The fourth regular general meeting has been held online in January 2024, due to a change of our statutes.
